Goldschmutz Death Valley

January 17th is Art’s Birthday. I doubt I will get anything else done in time, so here is my present to art. Happy Birthday, Art.

The film is footage from the Prelinger Archives, again. The soundtrack consists of an altered (slowed-down) drum track, Jomox T-Resonator, and electric cello run through various effect devices.

New member of the club of animals who make art

To the club of non-human animals who make art – which includes elephants, various apes, and Tillie the Jack Russell Terrier who reminds me a lot of Arnulf Rainer we can now add the Greek tortoise (Testudo hermanni hermanni), or more specifically, my Greek tortoise, which after several years of small format Jackson Pollack homages graduated today in the kitchen to a new style which, on the one hand still showing a fascination with Pollack, now incorporates the ambition and grand dimensions of Christo and land artists such as Robert Smithson, taking an hour to mop up and making me glad I don’t have a Pinta Island tortoise.

Bran has a self-portrait project

I will be contributing a self-portrait to Bran’s project, as soon as I decide what to do, and do it, and you may want to consider doing so as well. Or you may want to go find out more about it, which you can do here and you can sign up here. If you are not familiar with Bran, who is one of my oldest if not oldest internet friends, ‘she’ is a gifted ifrit living in the desert of Utah or something. Those of you who have seen the book “Little-Known Facts about Various etc etc”  are familiar with her artwork. One sort of it, at least.
