Scientific, comparative international study of sexual habits, part I

There has been heated public debate in Europe recently over the differences between American and non-American sexual habits. As a result, I volunteered to participate in a scientific international comparative study. Much to my dismay, my contribution in this case consists of polling my readers, since Feral Living has a readership uniquely split between Americans and non-Americans (primarily Europeans).

The first poll compares American and non-American (we’re talking culture and not race here) attitudes towards performing fellatio. To avoid skewing the results, please respond to this poll only if you actually pursue a lifestyle where sex with men is conceiveably on your agenda. The format of the poll did unfortunately not allow a third category of non-European-non-Americans. If you belong to neither group, please answer the poll anyway and leave a comment detailing where you come from. Likewise, feel free to comment and supply any information you feel is lacking in the poll.

Thank you for your contribution to scientific progress.

  1. I’ll chime in for “love it” (yes I voted), but with caveats which might be cultural.

To “tolerate” it implies that you’re doing it wrong, that you’re more passive than active in the act, and if that’s the dynamic then it’s unlikely ever to be loved. Skullfucking is almost an entirely different act, imho, than a good blow job. For the latter, the woman is in control, practicing an art. The novice might be advised to use restraints to really get the hang of it. For the former, instead of tolerating it offer your phallus-having pal a melon.

Similarly, this particular kind of sex is, I think, more a masculine type than a feminine type concern, as it really focuses on a particular anatomical area than on the whole person. In voting, I’d include “but it depends on the cock” as much as “it depends on the guy.” That’s not the way (most) girls engage the idea/in act of sex (most ot the time).

  2. oh, and: these may or may not be more American or European modes of thinking about sex.

  3. voted for the love (surprised?). and yeah, when’s the cunnilingus poll coming?

  4. Could the issue be the US/Europe differences in bathing? People on the other side of the pond often say we’re clean freaks, with our showering every day. We often say people from Europe need a good bath and some Right Guard. Maybe there’s a connection… no one wants to eat from a dirty plate.

And since I know I’ll get flamed for making a generalization, let me say in advance that I’ve known several lemony-fresh Europeans and a lot of smelly Americans.

good point, xkot, but i believe european hygiene has improved a lot in the last 20 years since indoor plumbing has been introduced.

the problem, as i’ve mentioned, is fitting all the important variables into a cheap little 6-question free poll, it’s just not possible.

for the love/tolerate/hate was intended to approximate some sort of sliding scale of preference and enjoyment, sorry if it was misleading.

also, the american/european thing. i thought i explained that in the original post, that’s also a result of the 6-response limit. if you’re neither and still want to answer, go ahead and just leave a comment (anonymous is fine) telling where you’re from.

Oh, and thanks to everyone who takes the time to respond. One last request: please make a similar poll of your friends/acquaintances and send me the results. Thank you.

I’m a male and have received fellatio from both american and european women. the style is completely different. american women go slower and seem to enjoy it more. also, they’re more likely to actually keep going all the way to the end.

as for differences, maybe circumcision has something to do with it–american guys are usually circumcised and european guys are not. so, i think fellatio is done more in the usa just because circumcised guys seem to be more interested in it and turned on by it.
