They are easy to install. Is it the wire that attached to the sound card?

damn, I hate it when I put something together & have parts left over…..
you got a CD/RW. i need one of those so bad. i’m not even sure why, i just know i do.
I’ve hit three snags:
1. that wire (which i think goes to the sound card, and there does seem to be a place to plug it in too)
2. can’t find any extra power supply plug
3. no place to plug in the fat, flat plug thing
4. no idea whether to install it as a master, slave, or “either/or-let the PC pick”.
5. today’s sunday, i have to have a cd written and delivered by tuesday, and i don’t go into work until monday afternoon because i have to watch a sick kid in the morning while my wife runs into work real fast, meaning my computer-literate work colleague – who doesn’t even know i’m going to dump this on him yet – will have only monday afternoon to try to figure this out, including finding a splitter cable or whatever it’s called for the power…
6. also, i can’t count past three.
That wire goes to the ODN relay in the anti-matter containment circuit board. Jeez, even Wesley Crusher knows that.

you should have bought an external usb cd-rw… it’s slower but it’s less hassle and can be installed on any computer.
try to exchange it, if it won’t install.
You should have a tiny little socket near the top of the sound card labelled CD – you may have a 2nd one labelled AUX for if you have 2 CD’s. Any shop that seels PC parts will have a splitter – they cost pennies. You should have a socket on the back of the CD/RW for the power! If this is to be the only CD player set it to master, if you have another one in the that will already be the master and you set this one to slave.
I thought I could install my CD-RW drive too. “Easy to install – with video!” it said on the box. So I took it home, took the cover off my PC, cracked open the manual, took one look and said “I can’t do this.” Some people (*cough* Xkot *cough*) made sport of me over this, but I know when I’m beat. So I let the store people install it.
