Sleep deprivation diminishes creativity, they say…
I read something someone said, along the lines of, People wonder how the Germans could have let the Holocaust happen: well, here’s your answer (referring to the Patriot Act Bill, etc etc.).
Okay, Rickie Lee Jones was saying that in an interview. But just because she’s beautiful and has a fine voice doesn’t mean she can’t be right about things.
I was also wondering, does Kerry’s election hinge on his ability to convince people he could handle terrorism as well as or better than Bush? Because Bush has failed on pretty much everything else. I think he’s failed on security as well, but some people don’t seem to agree.
“Sleep deprivation is a one-way ticket to temporary psychosis” (Agt. Cooper)
It’s not the Patriot Act–It’s the U.S.A. P.A.T.R.I.O.T. bill. Ref:http://www.eff.org/Privacy/Surveillance/Terrorism/20011025_hr3162_usa_patriot_bill.html
I wonder how long it took them to create that acronym.
Thanks, Sue.
It may have taken them only seconds to generate:

etc etc. apparently the code is not hard to write, because there are dozens of acronym generators online.
I sometimes just think of it (along with the young Robert Culp and Bill Cosby, and my adolescent crush on them) as the “I Spy” Act.
Sleep deprivation also brings on the OCD, which tends to make me feel sharper, and also pointier, and therefore a little safer in general, if only in relation to the paranoia (which only tends to occur in the most amusing of doses). I’ve found it enhances certain types of creativity, like the sort involved with painting or composing or sculpting, or even writing first drafts. What you can’t rely on is your ability to edit or revise.
And just because it can’t be said enough, imho: so Kerry is another kind of status quo, that’s fine. His is infinitely preferable to the certain doom variety we’re enjoying now. Ralph Nader should, again imho, either stir shit up gracefully, a la McCain, or go the hell home.
