That’d mean that the male side of your parentage was the most important, was how the power was passed down; if that was how it worked, you’d never get around to the matriarchy part. At least not enough to get documented in history books.
Matrilineal patriarchy, though, that happens all the time: just like male pattern baldness, what defines your family line is passed down to you from your mother’s father. She doesn’t get to enjoy any of the power, though. At least, not on paper.
