Recently I was wondering when I would be able to play on some sort of amateur orchestra. Stuck way in the back, say, hidden well away, but playing still. Today my cello teacher asked whether I’d be interested in playing on the music school orchestra, for some concert in May. Nothing difficult, and lots of it. I said okay, barring conflicts with previously-scheduled stuff. Yay.
Yeah! You won’t regret it, Mig. :)
For my sake, I hope you’re right, Meike.
Well, it’s like this, you see. You may sound like shit, all of you together, but you’ll ENJOY it.
For the first time in years, instead of participating, I went to listen to my orchestra’s performance a little while ago. And yeah, we did sound pretty ghastly from time to time, but I still enjoyed listening to everyone giving their best. It’s all about fun. :)
This orchestra consists of students from the local music school. Mostly children, with a few adult students hiding in the back rows. So, yes, maybe dreadful. But who cares, right? That’s one thing I love about this school, they are great about getting the kids playing together in ensembles and stuff. Knowing I may someday be playing in public with other people motivates me to practice.
