First Melly broke my brain with the bunny and the apple, now this. (Warning: touching and fine, not weird.)
Cursor.org
So I was talking to Spacecheese on AIM this morning and he mentioned finding cursor.org through Words Mean Things, so I would have found it eventually because I visit Adam’s site daily, but then again I might not have clicked the link, because I don’t always visit all the sites people recommend on their weblogs so thanks, Space, for mentioning it. (Space is also responsible for any sparkles of genius in the post “Sleep Deprivation and the Birth of Myth” two posts down from this one, which grew out of another conversation, while I take responsibility for any lame bits.)

Sleep deprivation and the birth of myth
Tired dad: [Brushing small child's teeth for her] “You know, brushing teeth is important. You have to brush your teeth because, eh, you got fish in there. And they lay eggs and the eggs hatch.”
Child: “Bargle garble…”
Tired dad: “Then you got all these baby fish swimming around in your mouth, and it tickles, and no one can understand you when you talk. So you gotta brush your teeth good.”
Mother: [Stops taking off makeup to devote full attention to this exchange] “??”

Are pyramids made out of concrete?
Cecil B. DeMille’s whips-and-slaves theory of the construction of the pyramids and the raising-giant-blocks-of-stone-by-kite theory have both come under fire by scientists who claim the pyramids are simply cast concrete. Actually, the theory has been around for like 20 years or more, but is strongly resisted by many. The Egyptian government, for example (according to a recent newspaper article) refuses to allow scientists to take any more samples from the stones of the pyramids to test the theory.
The ancient Egyptians as you know, are believed to have worshipped cats. Like, what cat owner doesn’t sooner or later find him/herself in a relationship with the cat that strongly resembles worship?
And speaking of cats, especially red, water loving cats, my cat Moritz fell into the toilet yesterday. But I got him out in time.
