It is outdoor climbing for beginners.
We have several years experience climbing and bouldering indoors, but you can’t be too careful.
I am the oldest and in poorest shape of all participants, and the hike up to the climbing park was involuntarily comical.
The walk back down was too, as it was in the dark and my headlamp glowed weakly, its light not making it all the way down to the ground.
I recall thinking, well if I fall off a cliff the light will at least make it easier to find my cadaver.
The actual climbing, an easy and short slab, was fine.
The view, of the Danube and the Wachau valley and the ruins of Dürnstein castle nearby, was very nice.
I went shopping today and bought a voluminous bag I can wear on my back to hold all my gear to free my hands to make the hike up to the spot easier in the future.
And I bought us headlamps that are blindingly bright, I checked.
