I purchased a tripod on ebay after all. Assuming it is in good shape, and actually the proper size, it was a bargain (less than I paid for wood and screws.) I will probably have to make an adaptor to put between the tripod and the camera, due to the camera’s 2-screw issue, meaning I now have to find a professional nut shop.

It’s impossibly wobbly. The main problem, I think, is the connection between the board that holds the camera and the top ends of the legs. The legs themselves aren’t too bad. Might buy a tripod after all.
