No tiny yellow snails, but many tiny yellow worms on the inside, which my sisters and I ate along with the cherries, as (we had decided) they were too small to affect either the taste or the texture of the cherries. This infuriated my aunt, as our cousin, who had to carefully examine each cherry for the presence of a worm, and then discard the cherry if one was seen, was eating a lot fewer cherries than we were. She suggested a system whereby we would all eat the same number of cherries. My sisters and I laughed.
