It is not meant to liken the soldiers to monkeys. The soldiers have my sympathy. I can’t stop wondering how many of them are getting what they dreamed of when they enlisted, and how many are getting more than they bargained for. How many signed on for glory and to defend their homeland, and how many because it was the best job they could get. May they all return home safely. But that doesn’t appear to be happening. In the pictures I have seen, they appear as scared and bewildered as the rest of us, and younger.
