I agree with your second and third point. But the fact is that (especially to liberals/leftwingers)the “creating of a scandal” is one of the things that really undermines your credibility…

Especially in this day and age it’s so easy to be found out…

I’m going to see this film if I’m able. I hope someone else picks it up.

For some reason I can’t get that mefi link to open; I’ve been having connectivity problems lately. The way it looks to me, then, is, first, maybe Disney’s afraid to distribute Moore’s film; whether this decision was made a year ago or a week ago is not, in the greater scheme of things, really important. Second, Moore’s got a film coming out and is, maybe, using the Disney censorship decision to create more publicity (fair enough) or manufacturing a scandal to get more publicity (less fair, but understandable. I’d probably do it too). Third, certain people are going to be harping about this possibly red herring of a maybe-manufactured scandal to shift attention from the real issue, which is the film, and the other real issues it will, it is hoped, raise. This is, I believe, another instance of the reactionary right controlling discourse by picking the topics etc etc blah blah. I.e. There was the BJ harping, you know, and the If you’re not for us then you’re for the French, or the terrorists or whatever. And this smells like another one. “Don’t look there, look here.”
