The sheer seediness of it – the wandering musicians, the smell of cigarettes, the graffiti – remind me of the NYC subway in the 1980s. Mass transit isn’t like that at home anymore, so a visit to Paris is like a trip into another time.

I caught her, though, before she was able to steal anything.

I do love the woooshh sound, though. I was used to London, but the Underground never really wooshed. It just sort of rattled.
