I'd meant to write a longer post here, but had to hit "publish" early because my home PC monitor is messed up -- there seems to be something wrong with the switch, because when it warms up, it starts turning itself off and on, at a gradually accelerating rate. Makes it hard to work.

I'd wanted to describe my brief visit to a small bakery for a croissant with chocolate inside, and a Large Brown One (sounds better in German: einen grossen Braunen) which is a smallish cup of espresso with steamed milk. (A Small Brown One is the same, only smaller). It was a small cup of coffee, but delicious and a nice way to warm up while waiting for the art supply/book store to open at 9.30 AM.

I'd also planned to mention that the ice rink was full of young mothers skating with their pre-school kids on a sunny afternoon, while Lou Reed sang. But, you know: Click-blink-click-blink-doink-click-doink-blink.

They *do* publish a calendar of annual holidays. They either just forgot this year, or I lost it (more likely). But it worked out for the best -- I'd been jonesing for those sketch/notebooks for months.

That is so cool.

They need to publish an office-wide holiday calendar, Mig.

Maybe they just dug this one up as a way of saying "hey, your pals on the other side of the Atlantic are being told to tape up their window and close all air vents and block up the toilets and blot, not wipe, their skin in the event of -" hey, what's that ominous rumbling sound?
(On Very Bad Weather Days (VBWDs) our neighborhood is the preferred approach to OAK. Rubmle.(fhe))

I'm just sayin'.
I'm gonna go read some Dorothy L. Sayers and listen to some Godspeed now.
