Funnily enough, the only Real French Book I ever read in school was Camus’ L’Etranger – a laugh riot for teenagers everywhere. I finally broke down and read The Little Prince on my own initiative just before Christmas. I think I liked it better.

mary, because there is not a lot of children’s literature that is critically acclaimed in france. plus, stExp is considered a huge figure in france… he and the little prince and his sheep were the main focus of the 50francs note as well.

also, he died tragically in 1942 when he enlisted in the army and his plane was shot down. which gives him that whole “hero” factor.

and the snake swallowed an elephant :P
