I could sure use a good de-icer right about now, the kind that goes into the lock directly. Frozen locks on both sides of my door. I loved the “cursing” idea.. that goes without saying..I did everything but a naked Irish Jig and it still wouldn’t open. Late for work, but found a smile when I read the frozen lock story called “how to open frozen door locks” haaa.. I feel better now.

Before or after they freeze? Another thing you can do is – carefully – heat up the key with a lighter, insert, remove quickly (before it cools down and gets frozen into the lock) and repeat several times until the lock is warmed up and thawed out. They just said this on the radio this morning. Also, last night I spread mink oil around the rubber seals of my doors and they opened right up this morning, although it was even colder today than yesterday. But now my car smells like boots.

To add a note of practicality, have you tried those aerosolized cans of powdered graphite? It frees up door locks, supposedly.

There needs to be some sort of mnemonic for that temperature conversion thingie.

And it’s cold here, too. I shovelled.

On an only vaguely related note, for some reason, every single year I say, at least once, “snovelling show.”

depends how bundled up you are. remember, divide by five, multiply by nine and add 32 to go from celsius to fahrenheit. going the other way, subtract 32, divide by nine and multiply by five.

it’s in the twenties, i think. cold, but not insanely so. i just stated it in celsius because it made it sound colder.
