Regarding the network connection issue with your iBook, try this: Go to the Dock, choose System Preferences, Software Update, Check Now.. there should be an Airport Update (released March 8th) that covers this problem. Apparently a lot of people are having the same problem with non-Apple wireless routers.

Otherwise, it may be your service provider being clever by bumping inactive people off automatically unless it only happens on the wireless network.
