I *also* braid the hair. I did two pigtail-type braids starting high up on the head this morning (this is on my daughter, not me) and Gamma tonight modified that into sort of a Japanese manga/popstar look with lots of barrettes and clips. I am fond of French braids and sort of a Bavarian/Princess Leia thing I do, starting a braid in front and continuing it along towards the back, tight to the head, and down to the neck and beyond as regular braids (Gamma has very long hair).

by carpenter I am no christ.

*you* braid the hair? respect. I recently discovered that tiny tight braids make a good barrette substitute if you pull them toward the back of the head while braiding. those nice new ouchless elastics are groovy, also.
